About Nahleen

About 18 years ago, I decided to leave the corporate world and follow my true love, animals. I started up an in-home dog boarding business, Góshé Pet Care, where dogs were cared for in the lower level of my home. As my business grew, so did my passion to work with dogs and I added fostering for rescues along with a list of natural health courses and of course, dog grooming.

My business grew bigger than my home could accommodate and we decided it was time to move. Not just a little move, we ended up with a cross-country trip from Québéc to Nova Scotia where I reopened Góshé Pet Care as a boarding, daycare and grooming business. Twelve wonderful years and over that time I had the pleasure of caring for and grooming hundreds of adorable and incredible dogs.

The only thing that became as important to me as my business, was dog rescue and fostering. Throughout the years I met many people with my passion for and dedication to rescuing dogs that were neglected, unwanted and had no one to care for them. A few years ago, after working with several groups I decided to start my own rescue with very specific and critical guidelines. Along with fellow like-minded dog lovers, we created Misfit Manor Dog Rescue. A dog rescue focused on special needs and palliative dogs, those most often overlooked.

The rescue involves a lot of my time and energy which brought me to once again re-evaluate my business and my life and so after over a decade of doing both boarding and grooming, we decided another change was needed. This is where Soulmate Grooming Studio came into play. Now that we are no longer boarding, Soulmate Grooming Studio allows me to concentrate on my grooming clients, while giving me ample time to dedicate to the rescue that I am so passionate about.

It also allows me to continue to improve myself for the sake of the dogs by continuing my education in dog grooming, pet care and most recently Canine Bowen and also for more free time to spend with my own dogs/cats and whoever is in my foster care.
